I have been writing. Just, in my personal opinion. Nothing that is good enough to post on here, or anywhere for that matter. I used to be able to just LOOK at something and write anywhere from a 6-12 stanza poem about it, if not longer. My best work has come from me just feeling like writing about a topic I randomly just thought of out of the blue. I wrote a poem about a month ago for example, I still have it. Saved. On my computer. Only person who has really seen it is my best friend from Ireland (who by the way is a dA member and is obsessed with this site now thanks to my introducing it to her!) but it just doesn't. Pop. For lack of a better word (I'll probably edit if/when I do think of something better)
When I write a poem, no one is more picky about it then myself. As the author, I have that right. If I write a poem that I believe "pops" I feel that way pretty much the instant I finish it, I'll read it over a few times and the "pop" feeling just grows. I know from that, I have written something that, even if others hate it, I am and will always be proud of.
Unfortunately that is not the case for the poem I wrote a month ago, in fact, if I ever get around to it, I will edit it and then (hopefully) post it on here for all you lovely dA members to critique. I am just not willing to subject it to anyone as of yet, I know, I know. Constructive comments and such, but if *I'M* not happy with it, I don't expect others too. For those who are going to think or say "well we can give you some pointers" I am aware of that, thank you but I must decline as I have always been very independant with my writing, I feel if I take others advice, the poem is not just my own. Silly, I know. I just have not really written in awhile and I want to do it on my own.
That being said.
I DID write something that "popped"
Read it over numerous times, changed a few words here or there.
It's not perfect.
But it's mine.
I have come to the realization that I am stuck on rhyming schemes.
I believe now that I have outgrown that, seeing as the poem in question does not rhyme but the one from a month ago does and it's the poem I have posted today that I am proud of it.
We like to stick with what's familiar and are scared to try things that are not.
As much as this poem "pops" for me. It might not for you. I don't know if I'm any good at writing poems in this style but I like it all the same.
If you take the time to read it and comment, I greatly appreciate it.
I am going to try to stay away from the rhyming scheme for a while. See if that is what has been holding me back for the last few years. My need to stick with the familiar when I have long since outgrown it.
I'm too lazy to link it, so I hope you will take the time to find it on my profile
